Abstract

E-waste is considered one of the fastest growing types of waste in the world, and it raises concerns because it has toxic components, which can cause disease and contaminate the environment, if it is not properly treated, on the other hand it can bring benefits such as recycling and reintegration into the production chain. The objective of this research is to present the risks, opportunities and solutions found in different regions of Brazil and other countries to deal with this problem, through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The work is subdivided into four parts: a) introduction – provides an overview of the theme; definitions of key terms; important laws focused on solid waste and e-waste; the causes of the acceleration of the generation of this waste; identification of gaps and the purpose of the research; b) methodology – the chosen methodology is presented – Systematic Literature Review; c) presentation of the results - after defining the selected texts for full reading, the analysis of these texts is carried out to find: agreements, divergences, unique aspects about the researched theme and to explore some gaps in the literature; and d) finally, the final considerations of the research are presented, with limitations and suggestions for future research.
